We were engaged to produce a design concept to convert an old warehouse into a high-end office complex to accommodate our client’s business and two commercial tenants. The challenge was to transform the aesthetically unappealing and outdated façade into a building of distinction with a modern, industrial façade and outstanding visual appeal from the street.

We opted to keep the design simple, sharp, professional and elegant in keeping with the brand personality of our client’s business, while simultaneously distinguishing it from other buildings in the area with a modern industrial twist and delivering numerous sustainability advantages.

From warehouse to high-end office complex

Exciting news! We have received approval for our proposed design to convert an existing single commercial warehouse in Erina’s central business district on the NSW Central Coast into a high-end complex of office suites to accommodate our client’s business and future tenants.

Careful design consideration and site analysis led us to consider how to modernise the façade and provide articulated façade treatment whilst encouraging a more distinct directional emphasis for pedestrian and vehicular access to the building and carpark.

The main entry to the building has been relocated further to the centre of the development and emphasised with an awning through to an alfresco area featuring a new cafe. The design of the façade is simple, elegant, modern and distinguished with a definite industrial edge. The façade treatment combines new dark concrete-look FC, timber cladding and perforated metal for the entry awning and trims. The awning running along the eastern façade of the building and projecting over the footpath formed an important nodal point in the planning of the refurbishment to this development. It will also play a clear and distinctive directional function with its notable protrusion beyond the street façade and highly visible street number.

Internally, we left the structure exposed and chose materials that would reflect the building’s concrete and steel heritage. The interior design features black perforated metal panels to complement the panels used on the façade as well as polished concrete floors, black aluminium ceiling cells, leather upholstery and Linea profile FC panels with black trim and timber veneer. The interior fitout will create a beautiful experience for everyone, from the directors and staff to visiting clients, and this experience will commence from the point of entry and flow seamlessly through to each office, waiting area and amenities.

We look forward to seeing the transformation of the old warehouse into a building of distinction with a modern sophisticated visual appeal, outstanding functionality and a warm, sophisticated and professional ambience.

Client Feedback

We were looking for an architect to produce a design concept to convert a large, rundown old warehouse at Erina (formerly the Base Warehouse) into a high-end office complex with a café and courtyard to accommodate my business and one or two other tenants.

Our brief was for the design to be modern, cutting edge and industrial, something really special and very different to the existing office complexes in Erina and Gosford. We wanted it to be the type of design you would expect to see in Sydney and a quality space for businesses to relocate to and for clients to visit.

After being underwhelmed by a design concept created by another architect, we invited principal architect at RZK Group, Claudia Rosznercki to present her design concept to us on my recommendation. From the outset, Claudia had wonderful ideas and we unanimously agreed that what she came up with was fantastic. Her implementation was also excellent, taking us from that initial concept to something that was going to work. So, while she was initially engaged for the concept design stage only, we loved all the ideas that Claudia came up with so much that we decided to engage her for the detailed design and the design of the interior and fit-out as well.

Claudia has been fantastic to work with. She’s enthusiastic and she genuinely cares about delivering the absolute best outcome. The design she produced exceeded our initial expectations and her input has been great value for money. She definitely delivered on the brief. Furthermore, working with a group of people (five partners) can be quite challenging. But nothing was too much trouble for Claudia. The communication process and response to challenges, different opinions and changes was excellent. I would recommend the architectural services of RZK Group to others without hesitation.
