It’s a true privilege to contribute to spaces that support the development and learning potential of future generations. That’s why we were especially delighted to be commissioned to design The Hive Academy – an innovative childcare project created in collaboration with a visionary developer and client.

Located in a prime position within an industrial estate, The Hive Academy enjoys sweeping views of a tranquil riparian zone. This unique setting provided an ideal canvas for us to craft a design that connects children with nature, even in an urban environment.

Designed to accommodate 130 children aged 0–5, The Hive Academy is thoughtfully zoned with age-appropriate rooms and features that support the diverse needs of children, educators and families.

Key zones throughout the centre include:

Generous Outdoor Play Areas: Expanded external spaces that invite movement, play and exploration.

Interactive Entry Play Space: A welcoming and playful transition from arrival to learning.

Multi-Purpose Room: Equipped with indoor sensory play options for all-weather engagement.

Educator Wellbeing Spaces: Comfortable and functional zones dedicated to staff rest, planning and collaboration.

Our concept for The Hive Academy champions health, wellbeing, safety and sustainability. Every element of the design has been carefully considered to create a nurturing, inclusive and inspiring space.
